Animals : Other Mammals

Mammals are a class of animals that all have fur or hair, produce milk to feed offspring and are warm-blooded. Most give birth to live young too, the only exceptions being the egg laying platypus and spiny echidnas.

Mammals generally have big brains for their body size, improving their ability to learn compared to other types of animal, and this is helped by the fact that at least the female is normally involved in caring for the offspring so they have time to learn important skills too.
