Conservation Welfare Talk – Aping the Apes

Aping the apes: translating wild great ape research to captivity

Come and join us on Thursday 18th February for our latest Conservation Welfare Talk.

Dr Susannah Thorpe from the University of Birmingham will talk about her research on the locomotion and ecology of wild orangutans, and how this has led to the development of a new Enclosure Design Tool to help zoos enhance welfare by eliciting more wild-type behaviours in their captive apes.

The talk will be held in Windows on The Wild in our Himalaya Visitor Centre and will start at 7:00pm. It is £3 for members and £5 for non-members, which includes light refreshments. To book please contact our Guest Services Team on 08444741777

Opening Times: 10am - 5pm
