On Wednesday 23rd January AND now Wednesday 30th January 2019, home-schooled children are invited at a discount rate to our first ever Home Schooler’s Day!

Child (2-4 years): £5.50 each
Child (5-11 years): £8 each
Child (12-16 years): £9 each
Child (post 16): £10.00 each
Adult: £10.50 each

Education sessions: £3.00 per child

This cost also covers a resource activity that your child can use to accompany their visit and compliment their learning.

Additional activity packs if required @ £1.00 per child

Our award-winning Discovery & Learning Team will be giving engaging animal and wildlife sessions around the zoo based on KS1 & KS2 national curriculum for learners aged 4–11 years old.

For 4-7 year olds

Habitats and Adaptations (4-7 year olds) – Fully Booked
Gibbon Forest, 10:45 – 11:05am
Session focuses on identifying adaptations of different animals to a range of habitats across the world.

Who Eats Who? And How? (4-7 year olds) – Fully Booked
Giraffes, 12:15 – 12:35pm
An introduction to food chains and identifying carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.

For 7-11 year olds

Who Eats Who? And How? (7-11 year olds) – Fully Booked
Chimpanzee Eden, 11:30 – 11:50am
An introduction to food webs and their importance in ecosystems and identifying carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.

Evolution and Adaptation (7-11 year olds) – Fully Booked
Chimpanzee Eden, 1:00 – 1:20pm
Exploring how evolution works to change life on Earth and  identifying the amazing adaptations animals have to thrive at life.

Our award-winning Discovery & Learning Team will be giving engaging animal and wildlife sessions around the zoo covering the national curriculum for all learners from EYFS to KS4.

Session Times & Topics - Wednesday 30th January

For 4-7 year olds

No Phones in the Forest (suitable for 4-5 year olds)
Gibbon Forest,11:15am
A story based session that explores how animals communicate in the wild, and discovery how animals use their senses.

Habitats and Adaptations (suitable for 5-7 year olds)

A session focused on exploring habitats and identifying adaptations.

For 7-11 year olds

 Life in the Rainforest
Chimp Eden, 1:30pm
Rainforests are amazing! In this session we explore rainforest layers, why rainforests are important and what we can do to protect them

For 11-16 year olds

Scientific Investigate – Animal Behaviour
Gibbon Forest, 10:45am
In this STEM based session focused on maths and science, children will learn how to conduct a behaviour study in Gibbon Forest, just like our researchers in the zoo.

Evolution
Chimp Eden, 2:00pm
In this session we will explore how animals have changed slowly over time, and discovery the importance of variation.

Terms & Conditions

All children must be supervised by a parent/guardian. Pre-booking for zoo admission and sessions is essential and must be paid at time of booking. Sessions are limited to 20 people (all sessions for the 23rd now fully booked). Pre-booking is only available by calling 01827 883140 or for more information email bookings@twycrosszoo.org. Those not booked on a session will be turned away. Siblings and additional home-schooled children who are not participating in the sessions are welcome to come along, however they will not be able to take part. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Subject to change.
