This year, we’ve got some new orang-tastic activities for you to take part in at the zoo. Learn about the incredible critically endangered Bornean orang utans, touch and feel a real-life orang utan skull and ‘lend a hand to orangs’ in an exciting art activity.
Plus, don’t miss the Festival of the Animals, with our incredible Creatures of the World parade, Steel Drum band and so much more for you to enjoy.
The first 1000 children to enter the zoo will get a FREE orang utan toy on arrival*
The lucky first 1000 children* who enter the zoo on International Orangutan Day can take home their very own orang utan toy to continue spreading the message of how to help this critically endangered species. TZ Members... that includes you too
Meet our very own Bornean orang utan inhabitants... Batu, Maliku, Basuki & Kayan. Learn about the threats their species face in the wild and how we can do our bit to save them from extinction.

Extend the International Orangutan Day celebrations and join us on Monday 22 August for a range of activities with our conservation partners, Borneo Nature Foundation International (BNF). Join BNF for activities at our orang enclosure as well as two exclusive talks at 1pm & 3pm about the importance of conserving wild orangutans in Borneo, how BNF is protecting orangutans through forest restoration and community education, and the role Twycross is playing in these activities.

Subject to availability. Twycross Zoo reserves the right to change or cancel the event at any time.
Orangutan Free Toy
The first 1000 visitors are entitled to claim one free plush toy per paid child admission. TZ Members can redeem one free plush per child membership booking. Only available on 19 August 2022. Visitors must collect their complimentary plush on arrival to the zoo, as their tickets are being scanned. Once tickets are scanned, a free plush toy cannot be redeemed after this point. Subject to availability and change.
