Have you seen our owl? The Big Hoot has landed in Birmingham and Twycross Zoo too. This huge mass participation public art event, taking place during the summer holidays will see 89 owl sculptures being placed in and around Birmingham and here at Twycross Zoo! The Owls are individually designed and stunningly decorated by local artists and community groups.
We have two owls for people to find on the Big Hoot trail. Our TropicOwl was designed and painted by artist Jenny Leonard, and is a jungle theme covered in beautiful animal portraits including chimpanzees, of which Twycross Zoo has its own collection. The second owl is called Rainforest, painted by artist Anna Dunn, which shows a dazzling pair of eyes in a night time forest.
Why not take part in the Big Hoot Trail and spot both of our beautiful owls?
If you are taking part in the Big Hoot Trail and you manage to spot both Twycross owls (located in the city centre and at the Zoo), why not upload a selfie on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and use the hashtag #TZowl? If you do you could win a Twycross Zoo family member pass!
The Big Hoot is collaboration between Wild in Art and Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and the owl sculptures have been sponsored by local businesses. The Big Hoot will run from Monday 20 July till Sunday 27 September, and the owls will then be auctioned to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
