Our sustainable planting project has been recognised by the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums

We are thrilled to announce that Twycross Zoo has won a runner-up award for our ‘Planting with Purpose’ project in Butterfly Paradise! This recognition was awarded at the prestigious Annual BIAZA Gala Dinner, which some of our dedicated team members, involved in the project, had the pleasure of attending.

Led by a passionate member of our bird team, the ‘Planting with Purpose’ project has begun to transform Butterfly Paradise, enhancing the habitat for our beautiful butterflies and other species. Additionally, this initiative helps provide food for some of the other animals around the zoo, including our tortoises and even the great apes. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our incredible team, but also, our unwavering commitment to creating a more purposeful, sustainable, and enriching environment for the species in our care. We're so proud.
