Twycross Zoo welcomes some new kids on the block...
11th Aug 2025

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of two adorable new residents – a pair of pygmy goat kids who are now exploring the Goat Walkthrough in The Gruffalo Discovery Land.
The first of our new kids, a boy, made his entrance on 11th July, and just two weeks later, on 21st July, our little girl joined the herd. Their arrivals followed a short pregnancy of around 150 days, the result of our collaborative breeding efforts with Beale Wildlife Park, where their male pygmy goat joined us for a short stay.

After spending a few important weeks bonding with their mothers, our pygmy goat kids have now been introduced into our Goat Walkthrough, where visitors are able to get up close, and meet the pair exploring their new home.
Pygmy goats are excellent jumpers and climbers, they love platforms, rocks, and anything they can hop onto. It is also common for goat kids to playfully headbutt as part of their social behaviour, so keep your eyes peeled for this playful pair!
We can't wait for you to meet our newest additions and watch them grow. In fact, it takes around 8 months for them to grow into their full adult size!! On your next visit, head to The Gruffalo Discovery Land and step into the Goat Walkthrough to say hello to the newest kids on the block!!
