A brand-new duo has arrived at Twycross Zoo, and they’re bleating cute! Our two baby pygmy goats, one boy and one girl, were born just two weeks apart and are already winning hearts in the Goat Walk-Through, located in The Gruffalo Discovery Land. Here, families can step straight into the story of The Gruffalo while meeting our newest arrivals.
There’s just one thing missing… their names!
In true superstar style, these aren't just here to be admired, they need names worthy of their GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) status. Think Serena and Venus. Beyonce and Jay-Z. Batman and Robin. Or something with a cheeky twist, like Vincent Van Gogh and Billy the Kid.
We're inviting you to submit your favourite iconic duos as name suggestions by 31st August, with our lucky keepers tasked with having the final say on the names of the winning pair.
And if bragging rights aren’t enough, one lucky winner will enjoy an exclusive Meet the Goats experience - getting up close with our playful pair and spending VIP time in their Goat Walk-Through home.
“These two are already full of character – climbing everything, nibbling anything, and head-butting like it’s their job,” said Yianna Cooling, Mammals Curator at Twycross Zoo. “We can’t wait for visitors to help us name them!”
Small in size but mighty in charm, baby goats are full of surprises from the moment they're born. They can stand and walk within minutes, they have rectangular pupils to help spot predators from the corners of their eyes, and fun fact: their bleats have regional accents. Ay up!
