2. Prepare for your visit and the possibility of queues

The school holidays can be a busy time for us at the zoo and our team work hard to park and welcome visitors as quickly as possible to enjoy a great family day out. As a charity our visitors’ patience and support is greatly appreciated so we can continue our award winning conservation work.

To make the most out of your day, we’d advise;

  • Book online in advance as we only have limited tickets available!
  • Check travel alerts before setting off on your journey
  • Avoid arriving at peak times between 10am-11am. Our car parks are open from 8am, breakfast is served in Himalaya from 8.30am and the zoo closes at 6pm.
  • If you are traveling from the North on the M42, our suggestion is to get off at Jct 12 and take the HGV route along the B4116 to Twycross Zoo.
  • Please note; there will be separate queue lines for TZ Members during the school holidays. Ask a member of staff for more information when you arrive.

3. Breakfast from 8.30am overlooking the Snow Leopards

Before your day begins, enjoy a delicious breakfast from 8.30am at The View Restaurant in Himalaya overlooking our beautiful big cats – can you catch a glimpse of our beautiful Snow leopards as you tuck into your full English or pancakes? Check out The View Restaurant menu here.

No worries if you can’t make breakfast, The View Restaurant and Costa also serves lunch, cakes as well as drinks AND their are lots of other places to eat and drink around the zoo too!

4. Meet our new arrivals

Take a walk on the wild side and come face to face with one of the world’s most critically-endangered species, the Eastern Black Rhino! Our female Rhino, Nandi will be waiting to meet all of our visitors – will you fall in love with her as much as we have?

Plus how many animal babies you can spot around the zoo – Molusc the penguin chick, two wallaby joeys and a Kirk’s Dik-Dik calf are just to name a few!

5. Wet ‘n’ Wild is open for Spring/Summer

The very popular Wet ‘n’ Wild play park is now open and FREE with your zoo admission ticket. Remember to bring a spare pair of clothes and a towel as we have our own changing facility available.

Too cold for that? Indoor Soft play is also open as well as our outdoor play areas.

6. Don’t miss the up-close moments

Handfeed the colourful Lorikeets (£1 per pot), pet the Goats in Explorer Zone, walk with Lemurs and explore the tropical Butterfly Forest – all memories not to forget!

You can add something even more special to your day by booking a Lemur, Meerkat, Otter, or Penguin feeding experience for only £75* for up to four people. We have selected dates remaining throughout the Easter Holidays – call 01827 883140 or email bookings@twycrosszoo.org to find out more and book.

*Price based on weekends and school holidays during April 2019.

7. Safari Cars

Bring your little ones to explore the sights, sounds and smells of our Explorer Zone in our Safari Cars!

3-10 year olds can take the wheel and drive their own electric-powered, mini vehicle on an adventure along an off-road track, as parents/guardians control the brakes from behind. See if you can spot our sheep, donkeys, birds and goats on your journey, and watch out for pedestrians crossing! Book online ahead of your visit here.

8. Daily Animal Talks and feeds

Our NEW schedule of daily animal talks (now including Eastern Black Rhinos an more!) are carried out by our knowledgeable and enthusiastic Education Rangers! Our ten minute talks cover information about individual animals, how species live in the wild, what we are doing to help them and how you can help from home.

Don’t miss our twice daily Penguin Parade which is a firm family favourite! Check out talk times here.

9. Chimpanzee Eden

Explore the curious world of chimpanzees as you’re transported to the jungle in their habitat – Chimpanzee Eden, built only 1 year ago!

Meet our troop of chimpanzees and get to know their individual personalities even more. Watch as they thunder over your head in tunnels which lead out to their giant outdoor habitat and keep an eye out for hidden viewing areas for your little ones to get closer than ever before!

10. Pick up a TZ Souvenir from our gift shop

From cute, cuddly toys to one-of-a-kind sculptures for your home, all of our items are perfect gifts for birthdays and other special occasions. Don’t miss some of our new Rhino stock too! Did you know you can buy online too?
